Closed User Groups

What is a Closed User Group?
CUG is a Web Site with User Authentication. The site consists of pages, some of which are publicly accessible, usually the home page at least, and pages which are only accessible by the members of a particular user group. You can have as many groups as you require and each user can be a member of one or more of the groups.

An Example:
You might have a group for managers, a group for sales staff and a group for all staff. If these groups are called managers, sales and staff then Mr B. Chief, a manager, will be a member of all three groups and so have access to everything on the site; Mr S. Talk, a salesman, will be a member of sales and staff, and all other employees will be members of the staff group only.

As another example, you might be providing information to paying subscribers and have different groups corresponding to different subscription levels. You might decide to have no publicly accessible pages at all. This would then be a truly "closed" user group!

You create and delete user accounts, change the group membership and passwords of user accounts and allocate the pages of your site to one group or another, just as and how often you like.
