Dialex – evaluation suite

Release Notice - Unix versions

Please read this release notice carefully. You are advised to follow each step in its entirety. Failure to do so could result in loss of data for which Pcfi will take no responsibility.

To install this evaluation release, please follow the instructions below. Should you have any queries please do not hesitate in contacting your Dialex supplier before you commence. The first 4 paragraghs of this document should be followed and used instead of paragraghs 1 and 2 of the “Load & Run” document.

1. Place the file provided into the directory from where the dialex directory is to be created. The logon must allow the tar routine to create a new directory – We suggest you use root.

2. For UNIX releases the files are compressed tar files. So firstly mv the file.z to file.Z then uncompress (unix standard program) file.Z file.

mv dlx-fg<nnn>-unix-icobol2-eval.tar.z dlx-fg<nnn>-unix-icobol2.tar.Z

tar –xvf dlx-fg<nnn>-unix-icobol2-eval.tar

where <nnn> is the release number

this will create a directory “dialex” and load the programmes and data files into the new dialex directory.

3. Change directory into the dialex/data directory. It will be seen that there are several files which end –USA or –UK or –FRANCE etc. You must select the appropriate file – for a USA based Sun Spark system that would be sun-license.dlx-USA – and copy it to license.dlx in the same directory.

cd data

cp sun-license.dlx-USA license.dlx

4. Now read the “Load and Run” documentation – this will advise you how to set up the system suitable for your installation. A System Manager and password is already included in the evaluation system. System Manager name is “dialex” with password “pcfi”.

NB: Do not use this release “fg204” to upgrade previous releases of version 1 software. IE FG204 and G103 or F102 etc are not compatible. Contact Pcfi for upgrade.
